Description
The current Chief of the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD). He began his career in 2003 as a firefighter in Daugavpils. Later, he served as the commander of the VUGD team in Daugavpils, senior inspector of the VUGD Civil Protection Department, head of the Civil Protection System Operations Coordination Department, and head of the VUGD Civil Protection Department. From October 1, 2018, he performed the duties of the Deputy Chief of VUGD. Since April 1, 2023, he has been the Chief of VUGD.
Education: in 2006, he obtained a Level 1 higher education degree in fire safety and civil protection technology from the Baltmanis Firefighting and Civil Protection College. In 2008, he acquired the qualification of a fire safety and civil protection engineer from RTU, and in 2016, he obtained a professional master’s degree in occupational safety from LU.
Awards:
In 2020, he was awarded the Cross of Recognition and appointed as a Knight of the Cross of Recognition.
In 2017, he was honored with the Order of Viesturs, Grade IV, and appointed as an officer of the order.
